1:87 – HO Scale – “Tall” Protein Hopper Top Bring the look of “protein” trains to your railroad with the help of MAC Rail’s Protein Hopper Top kit. The prototype can be found behind modern 4400 horsepower moving 100+ unit trains of wet corn milled byproduct from Midwest corn sweetener plants to Cargill unit train facilities at Bovina and Dalhart, TX. At destination the tarps are rolled back and product unloaded via rotary dumper for production into Cargill’s trademark feed for cattle. Our model of this unique hopper top comes in both a “High” and “Low” configuration as found on the prototype. From observation many of the original BN Bethgon cars used in this service are equipped with original low top. Newer added private marked and re-shopped BN cars have received high tops. Both of our lid models have the same footprint allowing freedom to mix and match for a distinctive and prototype look for your model railroad.
